Rozchodnik biały charakteryzuje się płożącymi pędami tworzącymi luźną, zimozieloną darń wysokości kilku centymetrów. Liście w zależności od odmiany zielone, intensywnie czerwone lub czerwono-brunatne długości 4-12 mm, okrągłe w przekroju, nagie, tępe, ułożone naprzemianlegle. Pędy kwiatostanowe długości do 15 cm. Drobne, miododajne, białe kwiaty na krótkich szypułkach zebrane w gęste, rozgałęzione baldachogrona pojawiają się od czerwca do sierpnia. Roślina nadaje się do obsadzania ogrodów skalnych, do zadarniania mniejszych powierzchni oraz do zazieleniania dachów. Lubi stanowiska słoneczne i suche, gleby przepuszczalne.
